Investing in local organizations that change lives

United Way of the Coastal Bend uses your donations to advance the common good and change lives long-term in the Coastal Bend. As a donor, you can rest assured that the local nonprofit organizations receiving your support are monitored in the areas of quality programming, governance, finance and administration.

 

How the funding process works

To create lasting change, funds are distributed to Coastal Bend organizations and programs with great care. As a donor, you have two options when it comes to giving: donating to our Community Investment Fund or designating your donation to a specific organization or organizations. 

 

Community Investment Fund

Our Community Investment Fund is the general fund we use to invest in programs that align with our strategic goals in education, health and financial stability. To ensure fairness and transparency, grants given to funded partner programs are decided by volunteer panels comprised of donors, then voted on by our Board of Directors. Giving to the Community Investment Fund maximizes your gift as the money goes to high-performing, vetted programs that address current needs in our community.

 

Designations

Making a donation is a deeply personal choice and commitment. All gifts make a real difference and we encourage you to give in a way that speaks to you. That's why we've expanded our list of designation organizations. We now work with more than 60 organizations, who will put your generous gift to good use. 

 

Funding Recipients (July 1, 2023 - June 30, 2024)

          Agape Ranch provides high quality support to foster, adoption ready, and vulnerable children and foster and/or adoptive families.

        The American Red Cross of the Coastal Bend provides services such as disaster relief, CPR training and assistance to military personnel, veterans and their  families.

  • Amistad Community Health Center
    Amistad Community Health Center is a Federally Qualified Health Center that aims to improve the overall wellness of people in Corpus Christi, Texas.
     
  • Aransas Pass for Youth
    Aransas Pass for Youth provides a safe, supervised summer recreation program for at-risk youth of Aransas Pass and the surrounding areas.
     
  • Bee County Adult Literacy Council
    Bee County Adult Literacy Council combats illiteracy by providing volunteer tutoring assistance with GED prep, learning the English language, reading and writing.
     
  • Beeville Vineyard
    The Beeville Vineyard works to alleviate poverty and underemployment in Bee County by providing families with emergency food, shelter, utility and medical assistance.
     
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Texas
    Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Texas matches at-risk youth in the Coastal Bend with caring adult mentors to help them develop the assets necessary to become healthy, successful adults. 
     
  • Boy Scouts of America - South Texas Council
    Boy Scouts of America provides scouting opportunities for all children, regardless of their economic, social and cultural backgrounds.
  • Boys & Girls Club of Alice
    The Boys & Girls Club of Alice promotes health, social, educational, vocational and character development for youth ages 6-18 residing in Alice and the surrounding area.
     
  • Boys & Girls Club of Beeville
    The Boys & Girls Club of Beeville promotes health, social, educational, vocational and character development for youth ages 6-18 residing in Beeville and the surrounding area.
     
  • Boys & Girls Club of Kingsville
    The Boys & Girls Club of Kingsville promotes health, social, educational, vocational and character development for youth ages 6-18 residing in Kingsville and the surrounding area.
     
  • Boys & Girls Club of Live Oak County
    The Boys & Girls Club of Live Oak County promotes health, social, educational, vocational and character development for youth ages 6-18 residing in Live Oak County.
     
  • Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Bend
    The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Bend promote health, social, educational, vocational and character development for youth ages 6-18 residing in the Coastal Bend.
     
  • CASA of Bee, Live Oak and McMullen Counties
    CASA of Bee, Live Oak, and McMullen Counties trains and supports community volunteers to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in Bee, Live Oak and McMullen and San Patricio Counties.
     
  • CASA of Kleberg County (Brush Country CASA)
    Brush Country CASA trains and supports community volunteers to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in Brooks, Duval, Jim Wells, Kenedy & Kleberg Counties.
     
  • CASA of the Coastal Bend
    CASA of the Coastal Bend trains and supports community volunteers to advocate for children in Aransas and Nueces Counties who are in foster care due to abuse or neglect.
     
  • Catholic Charities of Corpus Christi
    Catholic Charities of Corpus Christi supports families in need with food, rent, utilities, transportation and personal needs on an emergency basis.
     
  • Cenikor Foundation - Corpus Christi (formerly Charlie's Place)
    Cenikor Corpus Christi provides detox, inpatient substance abuse treatment, outpatient treatment and recovery services.
     
  • Children's Advocacy Center of the Coastal Bend
    The Children’s Advocacy Center of the Coastal Bend (CACCB) is a victim-centered, multidisciplinary team approach to the investigation and prosecution of child abuse cases. The CACCB provides specialized Forensic Interviews, therapeutic recovery services, case management, and outreach, education, and prevention services.
     
  • Coastal Bend Center for Independent Living
    The Center for Independent Living provides core services of information and referral, advocacy, peer counseling, and independent living skills training to those with cross disabilities.
     
  • Coastal Bend Food Bank
    Coastal Bend Food Bank distributes food and organizes multiple food/nutrition programs across 11 Coastal Bend counties.
     
  • Coastal Bend Wellness Foundation
    Coastal Bend Wellness Foundation is a community health center that provides health and wellness incentives through treatment, awareness, education, advocacy, and services.
     
  • Communities in Schools is a drop-out prevention agency that works to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.
     
  • Connections provides a safe and secure alternative to the "streets" for homeless, abused, or at-risk youth.
     
  • Corpus Christi Firefighters CARE provides funds to Corpus Christi firefighters and their immediate families to help defray the costs of cancer treatment, travel, hotels and other needs while undergoing treatment.
     
  • Corpus Christi Hope House
    Corpus Christi Hope House provides women and children emergency shelter, transitional housing, food, counseling, clothing, and life-skills training.
     
  • Corpus Christi Literacy Council
    The Corpus Christi Literacy Council provides one-on-one tutoring and small classes for adults seeking literacy/ESL support, and trains volunteers to become literacy tutors.
     
  • Corpus Christi Metro Ministries
    Corpus Christi Metro Ministries provides transitional housing for homeless women, women with children, mentally and/or physically disabled men, and elderly men (65+), as well as a community soup kitchen.
     
  • Corpus Christi Professional Firefighter Relief and Outreach
    Corpus Christi Professional Firefighter Relief and Outreach provides firefighters a way to give back to those in the community who have suffered a loss from a house or apartment fire.
     
  • The Council on Alcohol & Drug Abuse - Coastal Bend
    The Council on Alcohol & Drug Abuse - Coastal Bend provides outpatient treatment and recovery support, prevention education, and pregnant and post-partum support for youth and adults in 12 Coastal Bend counties.
     
  • Driscoll Children's Hospital
    Driscoll Children's Hospital offers complex and comprehensive pediatric medical care for children in South Texas.
     
  • Endeavors
    Endeavors provides homelessness prevention and rapid re-housing services to veterans at risk of becoming homeless.
     
  • Family Counseling Service
    Family Counseling Service is a a non-profit community therapy agency that provides professional therapy, education, support groups and advocacy for children, individuals and families.
     
  • Food Bank of the Golden Crescent
    The Food Bank of the Golden Crescent supports the needs of children, families and seniors through food distribution, nutrition education, advocacy and strategic partnerships.
     
  • Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas
    The Girls Scouts of Greater South Texas provide girl scouting opportunities that build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.
     
  • Golden Crescent CASA
    Golden Crescent CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) provides trained community volunteers to advocate in the best interests of abused and neglected children in foster care in Calhoun, DeWitt, Goliad, Gonzales, Jackson, Lavaca, Refugio, and Victoria counties.
     
  • Goodwill Industries of South Texas
    Goodwill Industries of South Texas provides job training to people with disabilities and/or other barriers to employment to help them get and retain a job in the community.
     
  • Greenwood-Molina Children's Center
    The Greenwood-Molina Children's Center provides childcare for children 18 months to 12 years until 11 p.m. on weekdays, and on weekends.
     
  • Grow Local South Texas
    The mission of Grow Local South Texas is to grow a healthy local community by improving access to, education about and advocacy for affordable nutrient dense foods. They provide educational opportunities to local youth through in-school and after-school programs.
     
  • Habitat for Humanity – Corpus Christi
    Habitat for Humanity - Corpus Christi unites the community with people in need to provide the life-changing opportunity to purchase and own simple, quality, affordable homes.
     
  • HALO-Flight
    HALO-Flight is a non-profit emergency air ambulance that provides helicopter medical transport services to the people of South Texas.
     
  • Heavenly Angels
    Heavenly Angels provides an environment that creates meaningful vocational skills and builds a sense of belonging for adults with disabilities. 
     
  • Kleberg County Adult Literacy Council
    The Kleberg County Adult Literacy Council provides free literacy services in Kleberg and Kenedy Counties to adults with limited reading, writing, and/or English speaking skills.
     
  • Live Oak Community Health Center
    Live Oak Community Health Center provides low-cost quality health care to residents of Live Oak and McMullen counties.
     
  • Live Oak County Child Welfare, Inc.
    Live Oak County Child Welfare, Inc. provides services to children and families in Live Oak and McMullen Counties such as food, utility assistance, clothing, school supplies, diapers, etc.
          Provide mentorship for fatherless youth and life coaching for single moms.
  • Mary McLeod Bethune Early Child Development Nursery
    The Bethune Day Nursery provides childcare for children ages newborn to 12 years.
     
  • Mission of Mercy
    Mission of Mercy provides primary healthcare and prescription medications to the uninsured, working poor at no cost.
     
  • Mother Teresa Shelter
    The Mother Teresa Shelter provides those in need with breakfast and mid-day snacks, access to simple amenities and shower, rest room, and laundry facilities, as well as transitional housing for homeless men.
     
  • Neighborhood Centers of Corpus Christi
    The Neighborhood Centers of Corpus Christi provide childcare for ages 0-5 at four Corpus Christi centers, and two recreation centers that provide boxing and free recreation programs.
     
  • OATH - Open Arms Thankful Hearts
    OATH provides free assistance to the uninsured/underinsured to help them obtain medications through the Pharmaceutical Assistance Program.
     
  • The Purple Door (formerly Women's Shelter of South Texas)
    The Purple Door (formerly the Women's Shelter of South Texas) provides free services such as safe shelter, counseling, and case management to victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
     
  • R.E.A.L. (Rural Economic Assistance League)
    REAL provides quality community-centered services for the elderly and persons with disabilities in 12 Coastal Bend counties.
     
  • Ronald McDonald House Charities South Texas
    Ronald McDonald House Charities South Texas provides a comfortable home away from home for families who must travel to fulfill their children’s healthcare needs.
     
  • The Salvation Army of the Coastal Bend
    The Salvation Army of the Coastal Bend provides a food pantry, transitional housing, and recreational activities for both individuals and families.
     
  • San Patricio County Adult Literacy Council
    The San Patricio County Adult Literacy Council provides one-on-one and small group tutoring in reading, writing, communication skills, ESL, citizenship and GED preparation for adults in San Patricio County.
     
  • Sinton for Youth
    Sinton for Youth provides food, clothing, school supplies, after-school and summer programming for children in need residing in Sinton.
     
  • Special Hearts in the Arts
    Special Hearts in the Arts offers programming specifically designed for individuals with special needs who want to explore art, music, dance, theatre arts, and film.
     
  • Success By 6 Early Childhood Initiative
    Success By 6 focuses on the physical, intellectual and emotional health of children in the Coastal Bend by providing resources and educational events to support and educate families and childcare workers.
     
  • USO South Texas
    The USO of South Texas provides support to active duty service members and their families.
     
  • Wesley Community Center

    United Way of the Coastal Bend funds the YWCA YWTeen program, which provides 5th and 6th grade girls, ages 10-12, character-building opportunities to guide them toward making wiser life choices.

    Youth Odyssey provides at-risk youth, ages 10-17, with positive youth development through life skills and adventure programming.
