CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - Operation Supply Our Students (SOS), led by United Way of the Coastal Bend, distributed school supplies to 43 public school districts in 10 Coastal Bend counties last week.
Now in its 35th year, the initiative provided basic school supplies to students in Bee, Brooks, Duval, Jim Wells, Live Oak, Kenedy, Kleberg, Nueces, Refugio and San Patricio counties.
More than 22,000 Coastal Bend students started school with supplies they need thanks to Operation SOS.
Administrators from each school district worked to ensure these free school supplies went to students with the greatest need.
Before distribution, volunteers from Chemours sorted through 40,000 pounds of school supplies.
