United Way of the Coastal Bend established a Fire Disaster Relief Fund to help raise donations for residents affected by the recent fires in Sinton and surrounding areas.
The fund was used to support relief efforts for those needing assistance.
100% of the donations received went toward response and relief efforts in the Coastal Bend.
Thank You:
Steel Dynamics presented a $200,000 check to United Way of the Coastal Bend in April benefitting the Fire Disaster Relief Fund.
The April 11 presentation is the result of a dollar-for-dollar match of donations by the Sinton-based steel mill to the nonprofit's fundraising efforts.
That match brought the total raised to more than $500,000 including about $100,000 in separate donations made to a Bank of Odem account. All of the money collected was used to support relief and recovery efforts for those affected by the March fires in Sinton.
