Make a Difference in the Coastal Bend

Philanthropy goes beyond the dollar -- giving time is just as important when it comes to changing lives.

Is volunteerism one of your company's defining principles?

Is your friend group looking for ways to hang out AND help our Coastal Bend community?

United Way of the Coastal Bend can match your talent to a project that suits your needs -- you tell us whether Financial Security, Healthy Opportunity, or Youth Opportunity speak more to your heart, and we'll pair you with one of our nonprofits needing an extra set of hands.

We've paired companies with groups needing help with meal service, reorganization and revitalization projects, house-building, gardening, painting, minor repairs, and more.

Volunteer Engagement Director Kia Thomas can help you find the perfect project that pairs your philanthropic interests with real need in the Coastal Bend for a good cause. Reach out to her at (361) 882-2529 ext. 108.

Women United

Our Women United group is a great way to also meet other women in the community and engage in community philanthropy.

Women United of the Coastal Bend leads several volunteer opportunities throughout the year, including reading to local early childhood centers, and coordinating donations drives for deodorants during the summer and basic undergarments for teens in need in the fall/winter.

Contact Vice President of Resource Development Christy Tupaj at (361) 882-2529 ext. 125 for more information about Women United.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) preparation

VITA volunteers are needed every tax season to help as many low- to moderate-income taxpayers as possible.

All volunteers receive training from IRS-certified trainers and must pass an exam before helping taxpayers file their returns.
