United Way of the Coastal Bend and its President & CEO Stephanie Jordan were awarded the Texas United Advocacy Award at the 2026 United Ways of Texas Conference in Round Rock.
In 2025, United Way of the Coastal Bend worked to help table a legislative proposal that would require organizations serving the homeless to be located more than 500 feet from a school. If passed, the proposal would have forced the majority of the organizations serving the Corpus Christi area's homeless citizens to close.
We teamed up with Corpus Christi Metro Ministries, The Purple Door, Wesley Community Center, and Catholic Charities to voice concerns about a proposed law that would have hurt our community’s most vulnerable.
